All skipping ropes are not created equal
Plenty of school skipping ropes are cheap plastic that tangles, kinks and is too light to turn. Children spend the lesson fighting the rope. skip-hop ropes were designed from 25 years of skipping workshops in schools and are made entirely in the UK, so children get skipping faster and keep improving.

What makes a skipping rope work
Five things decide whether a child can skip with a rope. skip-hop worked each of them out in thousands of school workshops.
Too long and it drags; too short and it hits the head. Each skip-hop rope is cut for a height band, from 2.1 m for infants to 2.8 m for adults.
A rope that's too light floats and is hard to feel. skip-hop ropes have enough weight to turn themselves, without hurting when they catch a foot.
A tough, scuff-resistant 5 mm cord holds a smooth arc and doesn't kink or tangle.
Low-friction stops spin inside grippy, shatterproof handles, so the rope turns fast from the wrist.
School ropes are dropped, trodden on and skipped on playgrounds. Used properly, skip-hop ropes last for years.
skip-hop ropes cost a little more than the cheapest ropes, but they last for years and get results, which makes them the best value a school can buy.

Stand on the middle of the rope with both feet. The handles should reach about the armpits. A little too long? Tie a knot just below each handle to shorten it. Why our class ropes are a fixed length, and how to tie the knot ›
